Biography

Natalie Elena’s art is a beautiful reflection of contemporary painting and the human figure. Influenced by the bay area artists as well as Mexican muralists, she works to create a union between color, texture and form. Her most recent works are a study of canvas treatments, color, and the figure. She enjoys playing with several palettes and layering the paint, almost creating a three-dimensional effect. Much of her artwork is a play on the human body, as she enjoys recreating the beauty and romance of the human figure through contemporary work.

Natalie has been recognized through several shows in the state of Michigan and the government for a body of work that depicted the lives of migrant farm-workers. This mixed-media exhibition was used to educate the public on the welfare of working immigrants in America, and of the many struggles that they face. As an artist, she has used her work as a tool to educate others on serious issues that our society continually battles.

Raised in Michigan, she began painting at a young age. She attended the University of Michigan, where she studied both the fine and liberal arts. Natalie hopes to continue to paint great pieces of art and to inform others of our societal woes through the use of painting. She now resides in Chicago where she continues to work as an artist.
